Seattle-based Isaac Layman produces large-scale photographs exclusively of objects within his household. These works are in fact many different images, shot on a high-resolution digital 4 x 5 camera. Layman then knits them together, using Photoshop to combine many different perspectives into one final hyperreal artwork. Layman’s works monumentalize everyday objects that, while personal to Layman, are familiar to all of us as objects we relate to on a daily basis. The Elizabeth Leach Gallery is pleased to be presenting Layman's first solo exhibition in Portland, OR.

In 2008 Isaac Layman won the Seattle Art Museum’s Betty Bowen Award. He has exhibited at Lawrimore Project (Seattle, WA), Open Satellite (Bellevue, WA), the Hedreen Gallery at Seattle University (Seattle, WA), and the Archer Gallery (Vancouver, WA). His work was included in the 2009 Northwest Biennial at the Tacoma Art Museum (Tacoma, WA), and was selected from the 2010 PULSE MIAMI Art Fair to be included in Now WHAT? at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, FL. His photographs are included in the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse (Miami, FL), the Museum of Fine Arts (Houston, TX), and the Monsen Collection of Photography (Seattle, WA).
