Gregg Renfrow is best known for creating luminescent paintings of great depth and intensity with a unique style of applying multiple layers of polymer and pigment over sheets of cast acrylic. Renfrow's refined technique engages the viewer by revealing the subtle light captured within the many layers of pigment.

In Dream With Your Eyes Open, Renfrow expands upon the single cast acrylic sheet and adds dimension through working in a sculptural way. Renfrow’s curtained layers create a subtle, veiled viewing experience, that even in darkness vibrates with concealed light. In this exhibition the artist continues his examination of the various qualities of light in a shifting, ever changing world. Renfrow includes double paneled cast acrylic works painted on three of the four panel faces. This unusual process provides an illusionistic, floating quality to the beguiling, light embedded and light emanating works.

Gregg Renfrow received his BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and has exhibited both nationally and internationally since the mid 1970s. His work is in a series of public and private collections, including the Oakland Museum of California (Oakland, CA), the Norton Museum of Art (Palm Beach, FL) and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (San Francisco, CA). Renfrow has been represented by the Elizabeth Leach Gallery since 1989.
