Artist Talk : Kavin Buck in Conversation with Ed Schad - Jan 26th, 11:00 am
Please join us for an engaging dialogue between artist Kavin Buck and Ed Schad, writer and curator living in Los Angeles, who will be discussing Buck’s current exhibition which investigates impermanence and the temporal quality of time.
Kavin Buck received an MFA at the California Institute of the Arts (Valencia, CA) and his BFA from the Otis College of Art and Design (Los Angeles, CA). He attended the American University/Parsons School of Design in Paris (France) and completed post-graduate studies with the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program (New York, NY). Kavin Buck’s artworks are included in many public, private and corporate collections in the United States and internationally.
Ed Schad is Curator and Publications Manager at The Broad Museum (Los Angeles, CA). Schad curated Carlos Cruz-Diez's Couleur Additive, co-curated Creature, Oracle, and A Journey that Wasn't, and was the host-curator of Jasper Johns: Something Resembling Truth. His writing has been included in Art Review, Frieze, Modern Painters, Flash Art, The Brooklyn Rail, The L.A. Weekly, Truthdig, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. In 2008, he wrote the essay "Drywall and the Artist’s Pallet" for Kavin Buck’s solo exhibition at LA Contemporary Gallery. Ed Schad is currently curating a large survey of Shirin Neshat's work opening at The Broad Museum in Fall 2019.
