Elizabeth Leach Gallery is pleased to announce the completion of a year-long corporate commission by Michelle Ross for The Standard Insurance Company. Ross created four site-specific paintings on panel, each measuring 16 feet tall by 7 feet wide, that were installed in mid-September in the newly renovated lobby of 900 SW 5th Avenue in Portland, Oregon.
Taking inspiration from four times of day, Ross titled the paintings, The Turn of a Shape: Dawn, Dusk, Midday, Midnight. Capturing the emotional feeling and visual relationship to ambient light at these different times, Ross’s four abstract paintings employ the visual language of line, shape, gesture, color and texture to dynamic and dramatic effect.
We extend a special thank you to Standard Insurance, GBD Architects, and Linda Tesner for trusting and tasking the gallery and artist with this exciting project.
